10 things about Seoul (From my personal view)

Oklah, sedikit kesimpulan tentang trip saya ke Seoul baru-baru ni:

  1.  Normal plain GSM phone in Malaysia doesn't work in Korea. Make sure you have smart phone that runs on 3G network.
  2. Not all currency exchange in Seoul takes MYR. Even sometimes the bank did not accept, except for Shinnan Bank. You have to to do some surveys since even some of the bank is near to each other doesn't mean they offer the same exchange rate.
  3. 90% of the population does not speak/understand English. Better learn some Korean.
  4. If you wish to go for a place really urgently without failing by taxi, make sure you catch an orange taxi with the sign 'International Taxi'. The international taxi driver can speak English as they have to pass English exam to be qualified.
  5. Subway train is very cheap but in Seoul itself, they have 10 subway lines. Prepare yourself with the subway route and determine your subway line no.
  6. If you have a Korean friend, let them accompany you. You'll benefit more with their presence.
  7. There is a lot of public transportation service in Seoul but the driver (bus/taxi) can sometime be quite extreme (the way the drive). Get use to it.
  8. Itaewon is the halal hub in Seoul.
  9. If you travel in Europe, fee people might look at you in a strange way especially if you're wearing hijab. But never in Korea. Unless you're naked, they won't bother.
  10. Things are not cheap in Seoul. Think twice to shop.
